Fitted with the Shibata stylus, which was developed for playing 4 channel vinyl records that demand high-frequency reproduction capabilities during playback. Not only for high-frequencies, it is also ideal for reproducing rich mid- and low-frequencies.
Using an ultra-lightweight stylus tip ground to a high level of precision, we have achieved a combination of low distortion rate with fuller frequency reproduction during playback. This stylus tip extracts every possible piece of information from the grooves on a record.
Instead of using a single, large magnet, the two magnets are arranged in the shape of a "V". The two magnets are positioned precisely to match the positions of the left and right channels in the stereo groove walls. Consequently, the VM design ensures outstanding channel separation, extended frequency response and superb tracking.
Para-toroidal coils improve generating efficiency and offers superb linearity, since leakage of magnetic flux in this continuous and unitised magnetic circuit is low. Permeability of the cores is also optimised through the use of laminated cores.
A permalloy centre shield plate enables the effective separation of left and right channels, suppressing electrical crosstalk to below 40dB. This is similar to the actual crosstalk value found in the grooves of the record itself.
I installed the cartridge after removing my 95ML. I really enjoyed my Audio Technica AT-VM95ML and I was not sure the VM750SH would be much better, maybe just nuances. Even from the first groove I was astonished. The first thing I noticed was the bass. Deeper and better defined. My second thought was that the highs were a bit harsh. After just a couple of hours of listening it settled down. The amount of detail that the cartridge can pull out of the groove is amazing. I have heard things that I have never heard before. This is on albums that I have known for over 50 years. A third area of excellence is the soundstage. It is higher and wider than previously. I was reading and listening and looked up because I heard a tambourine that was 1 foot above and 2 feet outside the left speaker. Just amazing. If you have the turntable, phonostage, amplifier and speakers to do this cartridge justice. Just go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Product easy to fit thanks to the removable stylus. Early impressions are superb, excellent clarity, separation and sound stage. Only occasionally does it sound to bright. Most surprising trait of all though, is its ability to not detect as much surface noise from the groove, I assume this is down to the size and shape of the Shibata stylus. All in all a more enjoyable listen than my previous cartridge(Micro Benz MC Gold) and definitely worth the expense. Also the usual, exceptional service was given by Analogue Seduction. Order placed and received within two days
