HiFi Rose RS150 Network Streamer provides an innovative musical experience. Stream and play ultra-high-quality music, 4K high-definition video, ad-free YouTube, Podcasts, various radio stations from around the world, CD playback/Ripping, and more.
The digital/analogue conversion stage incorporates the excellent AKM AK4499EQ DAC chip. This supports high resolution files up to 32bit 768kHz PCM and up to DSD 512 (Native). In addition, taking advantage of the proprietary Velvet Sound technology, this chip provides excellent measurements with a low noise level, for an exceptionally rich and dense sound reproduction.
The entire unit has been calibrated and adjusted by experienced acoustic engineers for perfect reproduction across the entire audio spectrum, from deep, intense lows to elegant highs.
The linear power supply stage of the HiFi Rose RS150 Network Streamer benefits from an intelligent design to significantly reduce electrical noise in order to provide the various circuits with a clean electrical signal for distortion-free sound reproduction. The RS150 also features a high-precision femtosecond clock, drastically limiting distortion while providing a wide and accurate sound image.
All the components of the RS150 are concealed under a magnificent high-purity solid aluminium chassis, which promotes efficient heat dissipation. The number of parts in this chassis is also considerably limited in order to limit the impact of vibrations that could alter sound reproduction.
The Media Centre within the HiFi Rose RS150 Network Streamer supports Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology through an integrated decoder. This award-winning British technology delivers the sound of the original master recording. The file is authenticated by the record company, artist or rights holders. In addition, this type of file is light enough to be streamed.
The RS150 also allows you to enjoy Ultra HD 4K video, stored locally or via the Rose Tube application, thanks to its HDMI output. Ideal for a Home Cinema system! The front of the device features a beautiful, large 14.9″ IPS touch screen for intuitive navigation through the RS150’s ergonomic interface. The Rose RS150 can therefore be controlled not only via its touch screen, but also with the dedicated Rose Connect application, available free of charge on Android and iOS devices. This allows you to play your music and videos locally or from a network location.
The device can also be controlled using the supplied Bluetooth remote control, which is particularly convenient for operating the device directly from the sofa. The RS150 features the Rose OS operating system, enabling an innovative music experience. It allows you to stream and play your music in ultra high quality, enjoy support for 4K videos, a commercial-free YouTube application, as well as many radio stations, manage CD playback and burning (via an external drive) and much more!
The RS150 allows you to stream your audio or video files very simply. The device supports AirPlay and DLNA protocols and allows you to connect smartphones, tablets and computers via WiFi, Ethernet or Bluetooth.
In addition, its rear panel offers a particularly complete panel of connectors, which will meet the vast majority of needs for integration into all audio / video systems.
Designed to hold sufficient storage for your HiFi audio files, the RS150 is compatible with SSDs up to 4TB, external HDDs up to 10TB or Micro SD cards up to 400GB. It also allows the connection with a NAS.
I have had the unit for about 2 weeks and am still getting to know all the features. I run it through my Icon preamp so don’t use the Rose preamp function. The most important thing has been the sound quality. My wife immediately remarked that the music streaming from Tidal was much improved. Fuller, more dynamic and warmer (less sharp) than the previous. I installed a 2TB SSD which was simple and have been adding a few downloaded DSD256 files. The software is a bit quirky in some areas and it doesn’t seem to organize the files on the internal HD other than alphabetically. Nor does it seem to recognize the album art of the downloaded files. Some of it may be that I haven’t played around with it enough. Overall I am happy. It is a nice player that is well constructed and has very nice sound.
