For some considerable time I have placed my PMC 20.22 loudspeakers on rather elderly Atacama stands using their gel pads for isolation. They did seem to be doing a good job but I couldn't help feeling that the PMCs were not being allowed to reveal their full potential. Looking on your website to see what alternatives to the Atacama gel pads were available I was drawn to the Custom Design pads largely on the strength of the enthusiastic single review previously posted for this product. I thought 'what's to lose', at £4.99 if they were not up to scratch then I haven't broken the bank. Well, what can I say! These insignificant looking little pads have transformed the sound. At last my speakers were giving me all the potential that previously seemed to be missing. One of the main features I noted was the transparency of the sound picture. I could see right into the orchestra or the band and details I never knew existed were tellingly revealed. On top of this the previously rather flat sound was transformed by the increased dynamics, I was sitting on the edge of my seat with excitement. I could go on but what can I say. At £4.99 these pads are quite the most remarkable bargain. I have no idea why they have released the music in the way they have but, who cares, just sit back and listen all over again to your record collection, be it vinyl, cd or streaming. One last thought. If these little Custom Design pads are so amazing just what would their stands do for the music. A possible purchase in the near future is beckoning. A no brainer of a purchase. Go on, you know you want to.

For one reason or another the subject of the interface between speaker and stand has always been a problem for me. I have tested with peaks which in most cases have given me a cold sound, too analytical and without body besides damaging the surface of the speaker. Blu-tack has never convinced me at all, whenever I have used it I felt that the sound became fat while the high frequencies also lost life. I have tried it also with silicone and polyurethane pads but its excessive elasticity also negatively affected the sound.

When I tried these tiny insulation pads, I said to myself, Eureka !. They have the perfect combination of elasticity and rigidity so as not to alter the musical landscape and what is more, improve it! These pads come standard with any "Custom Design" speaker stand, in fact I'm using them with my FS 104 Signature stands and they are the perfect ally. An insignificant price for excellent results.
