Pro-ject S/E Upgrade Kit

The S/E Upgrade Kit is an affordable motor upgrade package for selected turntables, designed for historical Pro-Ject owners looking to get more out of their existing system. This simple but intuitive kit, developed specially by Henley Audio, improves motor isolation to the modern standard employed by the latest Pro-Ject turntables.

The package includes:

2 Rubber Gromits and Screws
Rounded Drive Belt
Alternative Pulley

The rubber gromits are designed to sit underneath the motor, and are secured in place by the supplied screws (using the existing holes in the plinth for the motor transit screws). By tuning the pressure on the gromits with the screws, the result is a dramatic reduction in unwanted vibrations from the motor, causing less resonance in the overall sound performance.

The new pulley is fitted to the motor by removing the existing pully (there may be a small screw holding the existing pulley in place - this needs to be removed), and fixing the new unit in the same position. The rounded belt is placed into position in the same way as the original drive belt. These simple steps help reduce the transfer of any remaining resonances to the record surface.

Please Note: This upgrade is incompatible with players used primarily for 78rpm records. The pulley used for 78rpm records is designed for use with a flat belt.

This is the latest upgrade to a my 10+year old Debut 3 turntable previously having fitted a Goldring E3 cartridge and the project aluminium sub platter. The S/E kit combined with these changes, has improved the performance of the turntable significantly. As others have said the kit is cheap, simple to fit and removes rumble and (almost) all hum. Now for the acrylic platter....

Great update for the debut Carbon turntable

In combination with the aluminium subplater it gives a substanial upgrade, even more then i was expecting!

the rumble of my Project RPM 6.1 SB is completely eliminated. The only thing i do not like is the very poor quality of the round belt, specialy the splice.

A worthy upgrade!

I installed this kit onto my OG Pro-Ject Debut.. Rubber grommets give the motor so much more stability than the original rubber band, and combined with the rounded belt, this kit breathes new life into my Debut.. The table runs silently & music sounds more present.. Such a simple and cost effective upgrade with excellent results!
If you have an older model Project turntable, I highly recommend this mod!

well worth the money - a distinct improvement in sound. Quite straightforward to fit - even for a non-tech person such as myself. Fiddly to get the old capstan off and replaced - you will need a very fine small screwdriver (as used by watchmakers).

S/E upgrade kit

I used the S/E upgrade kit on a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon, where I had previously upgraded the sub-platter to the aluminium precision-ground version. The combination makes a very significant reduction in noise from the turntable, once the belt is properly aligned, making it almost completely inaudible. Very satisfying.

Very easy to install, the rumble noise is absolutely lower now, and, with the new rubber band and pulley, the turntable is exactly running at 33.3 rpm, when initially was a little "faster" with the original one.

Se puede apreciar claramente como se eliminan las vibraciones del motor poniendo la mano sobre la base del tocadiscos mientras se aprietan los tornillos.
