AudioQuest Noise-Trapping DBS Level X Battery Pack

AudioQuest's patented Dielectric Bias System (DBS) puts all of a cable’s dielectric into a strong, stable electrostatic field which saturates (organizes) the molecules of the insulation ... continuously from the time the cable is terminated. The exceptionally simple design uses a wire down the middle of the cable, which is simply an extension of a battery’s anode. This wire is attached to negative (-) of a DBS battery pack, and nothing else. It is not in the signal path and has no interaction with the signal. Depending on the model of interconnect (analog or digital) or speaker cable, an existing foil “shield” is used as the DBS anode by connecting it to positive (+) of the DBS battery pack. The negative side of a battery is nothing; it’s just an empty reservoir. Again, there is no interaction with signal flow and no extra connections are introduced into the signal path.

AudioQuest offers two different DBS packs: Black DBS and Carbon DBS. Both feature the inclusion of an RF Trap (developed for AudioQuest’s Niagara Series of power products), ensuring that radio frequency noise will not be induced into the signal conductors from the DBS field elements. The Black DBS pack includes a high-quality capacitor as part of its RF Trap circuit. The Carbon DBS pack includes an even higher quality (and costlier) capacitor in its RF Trap circuitry.

Both DBS packs provide an exceptionally low noise floor, but the superior capacitor in the DBS Carbon pack optimizes the RF rejection capacity of DBS to an even higher level. The difference is subtle but meaningfully audible.

AudioQuest’s most sophisticated speaker cables and interconnects feature our Dielectric-Bias System in one of two performance categories: Black or Carbon. Please refer to the attached chart for a complete list of models that incorporate this patented technology.

DIELECTRIC-BIAS SYSTEM WITH RADIO FREQUENCY TRAP

All insulation between two or more conductors is also a dielectric whose properties will affect the integrity of the signal. When the dielectric is unbiased, dielectric-involvement (absorption and non-linear release of energy) causes different amounts of time delay (phase shift) for different frequencies and energy levels, which is a real problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. The inclusion of an RF Trap (developed for AudioQuest’s Niagara Series of power products), ensures that radio-frequency noise will not be induced into the signal conductors from the DBS field elements.
