L-550AXII is a Mark 2 model of L-550AX which launched in 2011. L-550AXII makes its debut featuring a high-precision electric controlled attenuator LECUA and the latest version of proprietary high sound quality feedback circuit ODNF4.0, both are used in LUXMAN’s upper range amplifiers.
Keeping the symbolic appearance with traditional pointer-type meters on the front panel, the essence of the expressive power that made a huge step forward whilst developing the flagship integrated amplifier L-590AXII was poured into this model to provide its dense expression particular to pure A class sound and more detailed reproduction of the low range.
The LECUA 1000 attenuator is configured to electrically block electromagnetic (EMI) and radio frequency (RFI) interferences. The output signal is attenuated without introducing artifacts inherent of conventional volume controls, thereby resulting in constant output impedance, high signal-to-noise ratio, a uniform frequency response and lowered distortion. As its name implies the ODNF (Only Distortion Negative Feedback) only applies negative feedback where distortion is present to reduce colouration more effectively.
This lossless audio circuit enables the amplifier to retrieve every musical nuance captured by recording engineers. Transient response, attack, dynamic contrast, timbre, inner detail, and bass authority are preserved.

I had read glowing reviews of the amp and have always loved the sound of A class that midrange like valves but with a bit more grip on the Bass. I have tannoy Ardens and they have a large 15inch cone to control. Previously been on a Croft 25r pre and ATC P1 power and then later on a tron Seven pre and Robson a class mono. The last ones did a great job but a move meant I wanted to shed boxes and I thought the sound quality might take a small hit in exchange. How wrong I was .....This amp sounds sweet, refined and entirely at ease, whatever the music you choose to play through it, Last night I went from Thundercat and james Blake through Rolling Stones and onto some lucinda Williams country. Whatever i played was just deliveredIt’s not quite a ‘take no prisoners’ ultra-revealing amp of the brash and bright school, though the amount of information it delivers is breathtaking, I was hearing things my previous pre and monos never revealed.Also big rich bass is entirely controlled, tight and rhythmic as well as having wonderful character. And when switching from a bluesound 2i playing tidal masters to my Rega RP8/ apheta 2 the sound is very similar. The built in MM and MC input is sublime ... better than my previous Vanguard Trigon (a good 600 stage) Noise floor is so low and every part of the music conveyed is magical. John Grant Queen of Denmark was so perfectly presented from electronic underpinning to baritone vocal.I know this sounds a bit like a gushing review but I expected a compromise in sound downgrading from boxes.... what I got instead was a cohesive perfectly presented solution that is going to stay for a long long time.
