Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 SE Phono Stage

An amazing little RIAA preamp for moving magnet, high output moving coil and moving iron phono cartridges. It's quite a gem as you'll find!

The Gram Amp 2 Special Edition RIAA preamp was first launched in 2001 with a number of improvements over the legendary budget Gram Amp 2 "Communicator". The Special Edition features 50 percent more gain to deliver a higher output which is a closer match to digital sources.

Originally built as an entry-level RIAA preamp for the USA market, It's earned itself several recommendations with the American Hi-Fi press.

As of September 2012 "V3" sports our own slimline extruded enclosure with our usual classic clean line styling.

Reviews

'...I wouldn't spend the difference between the Gram and the Dino if I were going to use it solely for MM amplification... I'd be paying for stages I wouldn't be using, and I wouldn't enjoy the sound over extended listening even with the Dino+ power supply option...' (Stereophile magazine)

'...all the earmarks of a giant killer...the more you listen to this thing on its own, the more you'll discover that you can play it for hours without fatigue...the presentation had a rare top to bottom cohesiveness, with a tonal balance unusually rich, lush, and, well, beautiful' (Absolute Sound magazine)

Great value, high quality phono stage

What’s there left to say? Nothing new… but to confirm that this Gram Amp 2 SE remains a great little product which enhances starter and intermediary turntables and displays bags of musical qualities. I’ve got this one playing jazz on a secondary setup in the living room and it really brings out rhythm, bass, etc., For me, at this price, it’s a great choice with no drawbacks at all.

Excellent

This is the first time that I have used a separate phono pre-amp instead of the built-in one included in my Arcam amplifier. Just amazed at the difference that this makes. Can't compare it with other brands, as I have no experience of them, but the Gram Amp2 definitely gets my seal of approval.

Great detail with a lot of delicacy. Clean detailed and articulated bass but not very deep Crisp and textured high, without harshness.Wonderful and clean midrange. Great timing. Very wide soundstage in all dimensions. A great pleasure for the ears. I'm very happy.
