E.A.T E-Glo S Tube Phono Stage

Elegant high-end tube phono pre-amplifier with ultra slim design!

E-glo S – is a hybrid phono preamplifier that utIlizes ECC83 tubes (twin triode) in the first and second gain stages In order to get higher gain and lower noise we use in the first stage a cascode connection of tube with with two paralelly connected low-noise J-FET transistors.

RIAA curve is equalised fully passive and splitted in two steps which allows to achieve perfect impedance matching between the gain stage and equalization block. Phono preamplifier doesn't have any global feedback. It has a massive aluminium chassis, large possibility of adjusting the impedance, capacity and gain. It has subsonic filter with mild effect which doesn't affect audible frequencies in unpleasant way.

A very important part is the advanced power supply that uses anode voltage regulation and a well filtrated voltage. Filtration is in three steps, this result is a perfect S/N ratio and undisturbed musical experience.

I've had this a few months now, i bought it partly because of the reviews i'd read and partly because i already own its baby brother the E-Glo Petit. i bought the E-Glo S with the matching Linear PSU and must say i'm very impressed, it takes a while to run in about 30 hours or so, but like its brother it offers an almost silent noise floor regardless of gain, it offers all the adjustments you could ever want and what's best do everything on the fly making it easier to recognise when something sounds better or worse, it has a subsonic filter which becomes useful especially when using a low output moving coil with loads of gain as it completely stops the speaker cone wobble you can get with some recordings.

Regarding its sonic ability, my music taste straddles Rock, Pop, Funk, RnB, Soul, Jazz, literally anything but classical, the E-Glo S offers a fantastic soundstage, instruments and voices can easily be pinpointed and sound superbly detailed, bass is deep and well controlled. With this phono stage nothing offends, it makes whatever you listen to more engaging and enjoyable i'd say it's definitely worth buying with the Linear PSU, which makes everything sound a bit better. In comparison to the E-Glo Petit i'd say it's slightly better in all departments but like all HiFi at this price point it's not night and day, like i said everything just sounds a little nicer.

Finally i'll talk about build quality which is beautiful, like all E.A.T products the E-Glo S is a fantastically well made and finished piece of equipment, no plastic buttons or knobs, everything is metal and works with a reassuring click.

Well worth an audition .
