The CD Box S2 from Pro-Ject Box Design has been created exclusively to play "Red Book", standard audio CDs. It's construction and meticulous design is such that it excels in this discipline. In addition to a high-quality, durable drive that is essential for optimal CD playback, the CD Box S also has s servo control optimized for audio playback.
The high-quality servo system employed allows real-time scanning with minimal jitter. Together with the proven D/A converter, the CD Box S is capable of a faithful reproduction of your favourite CD albums. But to further customise it to higher-priced systems, Pro-Ject's introductory CD player also offers an S/PDIF output, in order to connect to a better, high-end D/A converter as well.
Fantastic player, size in convenient, like aa A5 envelope. Weight is perfect for the size, just enough so that player sits steady. You get a small business card sized remote also.Sound is great, I have only tried with digital out. I am no audiophile so can not say more about sound but for my ears it sounds great.Usage is simple, play/stop, change track. Can be done on the units button. Unfortunately you can not search on the unit, then you have to use the remote. No dedicated buttons on the remote either but there you press long on track change buttons.Insert/Ejecting disc. The mechanism is quick. And ejects it well so the center hole is like 5mm from the units front. Well enough for safely grip the disc. Good!Otherwise, the unit is not so quick. I've read that it is because it is computer controlled and reads perfectly 1:1 bits. But upstart time and shutdown sequence is kind of slow compared to "regular" cd players. No problem for me though.Mains transformer comes with adapters for all sorts of outlet you might have so that's a good thing. In summary, fantastic player in this segment. In this size there are not many options. I considered the Olasonic but heard some thing about it and they also don't have other units (exept DAC), also it costs more and have no line out. This unit have better presence on the market, more components in the same line. Feels like a better buy.

This is the smallest player out there, and it's exactly, what I needed. Nice sound, good look, quality built, highly recommended to those with limited space!
