Sumiko Pearwood Celebration II Moving Coil Cartridge
The Sumiko Celebration Pearwood II is Sumiko's signature model, created to mark the company's silver anniversary of cartridge manufacture. Unlike Sumiko's other moving coils, the Celebration is a low-output (although a quite robust 0.5 mV) unit, designed to work with low-output moving-coil phono stages.Internally, a unique machined alloy "cradle" contains the entire generating system of the cartridge, held in place with a single compression screw. Within this structure, the magnet is mounted against a yoke that creates a linear, uniform density magnetic field completely surrounding the coil. Other features include an Alnico magnet (unusual in a cartridge at this price point), a low mass PH stylus, a long-grain boron cantilever, synthetic rubber elastomers in the suspension system, and a pearwood housing.A reference cartridge at a real-world price.Specifications Frequency response 10 Hz to 40 kHz, ± 1.5 dB Output per channel 0.5 mV (3.54 cm/sec., 1kHz) Channel separation 30 dB at 1 kHz Channel balance 0.5 dB at 1 kHz Compliance 12 (x10-6 cm/dyne) Stylus PH ultra low-mass elliptical Load impedance 1 kOhms Tracking force 1.9 to 2.2 g Recommended tracking force 2.0 g Cartridge weight 7.0 g
