Black leather mat
Monday, 24 May 2021  |

I bought this mat a few years ago for my Linn tt. I always hated the felt mat that Linn fitted as it built a static charge and clung to lp's. The leather mat doesn't , but far more important, it lowers the noise floor and improves clarity, especially noticeable in deeper and better articulated bass. My Linn is dead quiet when playing silent grooves, but when bass is there, oh boy. Try the mat. You will never go back to cork or felt.

A low cost turntable upgrade
Saturday, 13 March 2021  |

The mat arrived in a cardboard outer, and flexible plastic inner protector. It is well made and fitted perfectly. There was an immediate subtle improvement to sound performance over my felt mat, and my carbon fibre one. The leather will not retain bits in a way that felt can and it looks stylish when the black is contrasted with the edge of the polished metal platter and record weight.

Great product and value

Bought this mat to try to stop a build up of static which was causing me some issues. This solved the problem immediately. Really pleased with it, and of course being AS it was delivered extremely quickly.

Ideal upgrade mat for Rega 3
Tuesday, 31 July 2018  |

I’ve compared this mat with (1) the stock felt mat supplied by Rega, (2) the Analogue Studio cork and rubber mat and (3) a considerably more expensive 3mm leather and cork mat borrowed from a friend. The first thing to say is that all 3 aftermarket mats are vastly preferable to the stock felt mat: all of them offer less background noise, a huge reduction in static pops, improved bass extension and greater coherence in complex (eg orchestral) music. The difference between the 3 aftermarket mats are far subtler. This however is my preferred mat for most recordings. The AS cork and rubber mat perhaps boasted better bass still and was perhaps more adept with detailed vocals; but this leather mat sounded more natural and well ordered on a wide variety of recordings: it also, frankly, looks more attractive on my red P3. The more expensive mat in my view demonstrated the law of diminishing returns: it would be very difficult to justify paying nearly twice as much for it. If you’re looking for a sensibly priced essential upgrade for your P3, look no further than this.

Doesn't lift like felt does
Monday, 30 October 2017  |

I wanted a replacement for the felt mat that came with my deck as I got fed up with it lifting as I removed the record.
This is the same thickness as the original mat (2mm).
It's weighty and isn't attracted. Just a shame it doesn't have that nice leather smell.
