For the passionate music fan who desires the very best, it's hard to listen to anything other than the pure solid silver AudioQuest Angel range of interconnects. With a name taken from the chemical symbol for silver (Ag), the sound characteristics and spatial depth that the AQ Angel cables offer over copper-based interconnects is nothing short of unprecedented

Angel is the only cable that uses totally silver conductors. The same 'Perfect Surface' methodology is at play here, except it's applied to extreme-purity silver to offer a clarify that is unparalleled with anything else. A 'cooler' more absorbing listen is assured as treble extensions are enhanced and detail massively increased. The 'Perfect Surface' treatment minimises imperfections in the signal caused where grains end and others begin. The end result (i.e. the listen) is one completely removed of harshness.

The scientists at AudioQuest after much research came to the conclusion that almost any material you use when insulating a cable disturbs the circuitry so Angel benefits from the addition of FEP Air-Tube insulation. This Fluoro-Polymer insulating component leave the conductors with a pocket of air completely surrounding them making huge step in dealing with the perennial issue of energy distortion.

AQ use 'red copper' terminations, generously coated in pure silver. The plugs are the most common part of a cable to lose quality and pick up distortion, which is why AQ swear by a cold-solder philosophy. Ground shells are stamped and not machined on which allows AudioQuest to specify a metal based on conductivity and low-distortion rather than what's more suitable for machinery.

For the highest quality DACs and power amps, indulge yourself with AQ Angel and really discover what your equipment is capable of!

Solid Perfect-Surface Silver+ Conductors

Perfect-Surface Technology applied to extreme-purity silver provides unprecedented clarity and dynamic contrast. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of cable distortion. Extremely high-purity Perfect-Surface Silver minimizes distortion caused by the grain boundaries which exist within any metal conductor, nearly eliminating harshness and greatly increasing clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N and other coppers.

Carbon-Based 3-Layer Noise-Dissipation System

Noise, in the form of RF energy, is the mortal enemy of good sound. Our environment is more contaminated with RF than ever before due to the huge proliferation of RF radiating devices like computers and mobile phones. Traditionally, RF energy is routed to ground through the use of a 'shield" consisting of either a braided metal or foil. This 'draining' of RF to ground causes a modulation of the ground plane, which in turn causes a form of signal modulation. 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF Interference from modulating the equipment’s ground reference requires AudioQuest's Noise-Dissipation System. Metal and Carbon-Loaded synthetics prevent most RFI from reaching the equipment’s ground plane.

Cold-Weld System

Making the perfect connection between conductor and connector is not a simple process. There are three accepted ways to make the connection between a cable and its termination. Solder is by far the most common method of connection. Resistance welding is clearly superior to even the best solder. However, just as solder introduces an inferior layer of differing material, causing distortion and reflections, so does welding. The alloy created at the interface of cable and plug is far superior to solder, but it is still an undesirable intermediary layer. After so much attention to the quality of the conductor and connector, the contact system deserves just as much consideration. AudioQuest's Cold-Weld System solves this problem with a superior connection that insures that the structural integrity of the conductor is kept completely intact. The Cold-Weld System refers to a combination of high pressure at the point of contact and the use of silver impregnated paste.

FEP (Fluro-Polymer) Polyethylene Air-Tube Insulation

Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. All of the AQ Angel's conductors use Air-Tube Insulation because air absorbs next to no energy, and FEP is the best extrudable solid insulation and absorbs less energy than other materials. The FEP Air-Tubes used in Angel have almost nothing but air around the solid PSC+ conductors.

Dielctric-Bias System

All insulation slows down the signal on the conductor inside. When insulation is unbiased, it slows down parts of the signal differently, a big problem for very time-sensitive multi-octave audio. AudioQuest’s DBS creates a strong, stable electrostatic field which saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes both energy storage in the insulation and the multiple nonlinear time-delays that occur. Sound appears from a surprisingly black background with unexpected detail and dynamic contrast. The DBS battery packs will last for years. A test button and LED allow for the occasional battery check.
