Acoustic Energy AE500 Speakers
Acoustic Energy AE500 Speaker is a compact stand-mount design from the flagship 500 Series. Following on from the award-winning AE100 and AE300, the AE500 offers a drastic step up in audio quality, materials and cabinet finish.
It has a newly-developed carbon fibre tweeter and mid/bass drivers designed to match the pistonic power and accuracy of ceramic aluminium drivers with improved self-damping for a smoother and clearer sound.
Design
Unrivalled levels of performance, quality and value result in clean, uncluttered lines producing the thrilling and dynamic presentation discerning Acoustic Energy owners expect. Finished in a choice of Piano Gloss Black, Piano Gloss White or American Walnut wood veneer finishes, the AE500 will effortlessly integrate within any home décor positioned on speaker stands or bookshelves.
Tweeter
The tweeter incorporates a brand new 25mm carbon fibre dome which is lighter and better damped than other conventional hard dome materials and grants a lightning fast, natural sound that is sure to surprise the listener with its neutrality.
The new cast aluminium WDT waveguide is close to the mid/bass driver for top dispersion and is extremely rigid to lower vibration being passed to the tweeter for sweet, clear and natural highs.
Drivers
The 125mm mid/bass driver features a new oversized 35mm voice coils for low thermal compression and very high motor force factor, to deliver a highly dynamic yet controlled bass response. The woofer has an optimised motor and suspension system for superior linearity and lowest distortion for mid-range definition, whilst the lightweight carbon fibre cone material improves transient speed and clarity.
Crossover
The 2-way crossovers employ high voltage polypropylene film wound capacitors and air core inductors at crucial locations for top dispersion through a smaller acoustic source size within the crossover region.
Cabinet
These patented drivers are held in new 18mm RSC (Resonance Suppression Composite) cabinets evolved from the elite Reference Series and with the same constrained layer composite to greatly minimise cabinet acoustic radiation and prevent it from colouring the sound.
