Roksan Nima Uni-Pivot Tonearm

Suitable for use on most turntables, the Nima has the same geometry as Rega.

Combining solid aluminium alloy tubing, a stainless steel alloy and polished acrylic; this remarkable arm is made of no less than ten individual precision-machined components which are then meticulously put together by skilled hands at Roksan.

The Roksan Nima tonearm does not have standard internal wiring; so in order to transmit the signal from the cartridge in as higher quality as possible, the same flat-printed, circuit board cable developed for our top-of-the-range Artemiz arm is employed.

The unique design of the transit locking mechanism of the bearing assembly not only provides a safe transportation method, but also avoids damage if the arm is accidentally lifted off its bearing.

The counterweight is decoupled and designed to mount off-centre thus allowing easy Azimuth correction.

Vertical Tracking Angle (VTA) adjustment provides optimum alignment for almost any cartridge.

The combination of polished acrylic headshell, silver anodised aluminium tubing and mirror chromed counterweight enhances NIMA's looks and conveys the true lightness and neutrality of this very special arm.

The Nima has a brilliantly natural, cohesive sound reproduction and in conjunction with the Radius 5 and a good cartridge such as the Roksan Corus produces a vast panoramic sound with plenty of clarity and punch.

Home Brew TT gets a Nima
18 June 2021  |

Bought my Roksan Nima in 2012 to install on an Acrylic plinth turntable. I've an Ortofon LYS Moving Coil cartridge (similar to the MC20) albeit with a clear body to match the Nima's headshell and unipivot housing.

The paring of a high compliance cartridge to the Nima seems to be just about perfect. No in band resonances of any kind. I get quite a lively yet balanced presentation with this setup.

The 4☆ out of 5☆ rating is not performance based, but due to a flaw in the set screw thread that fixes the height of the tonearm w.r.t. the plinth.

The thread stripped out of the acrylic housing due to being too thin. I added an threaded aluminium strip to span across the stripped hole in the housing to make things right again.

My arm happens to be a 1st gen version, so Roksan may have fixed this weakness.

Other than that, this tonearm has been completely reliable in all other respects.
