The Chord Company started in 1985 by Sally Kennedy, working from her then home (the very first prototypes and production interconnects were built on a kitchen table!) in response to demand from overseas customers wanting high quality interconnects for use with Naim Audio amplifiers. Hi-fi dealers soon found that these cables improved performance, so The Chord Company started supplying the UK market.

The very first interconnect produced was the Chord Chrysalis. Although not an expensive cable, it set standards at its price point and soon gathered good reviews in the hi-fi press. Right from the start, we felt that a good quality interconnect should neither add or take anything away from the signal it was carrying. Cables should be as neutral as possible.

From the earliest days, the company gained a reputation for producing high quality, custom length and custom terminated interconnects. Hand built performance products and first class customer service have remained at the forefront of The Chord Company ever since.
