Fantastically good sounding right out of the box, there are several optional available upgrades, so the Super ScoutMaster can be upgraded over time for even better performance. This turntable should be at the top of any vinyl lover's list. The SSM is a complete turntable package; just add cartridge and its ready for action. The awesome JMW-9T uni-pivot tonearm offers outrageous performance for an inexpensive arm, making it the perfect mate to the SSM The outboard motor assembly and included SDS are the same ones used on VPI's reference HR-X turntable, for state of the art speed stability and smoothness. The SSM double plinth minimizes vibration and gives the JMW-9T tonearm a very sturdy and stable platform. The SSM shown shows a couple of optional upgrades, around the outside of the platter is the Periphery Clamp and over the spindle is the Centre HRX Weight. Designed to be used as a combo, the Periphery Clamp sits on the outer edge of the record, coupling it more effectively to the platter. The unthreaded Centre Weight slides over the spindle and is used instead of a more traditional clamp, pressing the record down evenly across the entire label. The combination of these two upgrades greatly improves tonal balance, reduces vibration and increases dynamic range and is highly recommended.
