Coherent musical control is held over the entire frequency range from low bass to high treble, in terms of tonal quality and the stability and perspective of stereo imaging.

The Series V precision pick-up arm produces an almost startling dynamic range and neutrality. Absence of structural resonances, present in lesser arms, enables it to escape 'LP sound' that makes vinyl readily discernable from master tapes. Structurally inert.

Features subsonic lateral mode damper, graduated tracking force control through a resonance controlled spring, ABE7 ball races and VTA adjuster screw. Embodies every worthwhile feature in tone-arm design. Brings listener audibly closer to the clarity and performance of the original performance.


This precision tone arm uniquely uses a light weight but very strong almost unbreakable one piece cast magnesium arm tube. This gives an effective mass of 10/11g, and with the internally damped arm tube provides the best support available for cartridges weighing up to 18g (heavy weight insert required). Precision ball race bearings adjusted to exacting tolerances in both horizontal and vertical planes give excellent rigidity with the necessary free movement to allow uninhibited tracking and openness of sound. Maximum tracking force is 3g and the gross weight is 720g. To further prove the effectiveness of the magnesium arm tube SME have developed a 12" version for the new 312S tonearm
