AudioQuest VDM-1 75Ω Digital Cable

AudioQuest/CinemaQuest VDM Series cables are designed to minimize distortion across an extremely wide bandwidth. A 75 Ohm cable is like a conduit which has to carry relatively low frequency analogue video (Composite, up to 4.2MHz), or super sensitive digital audio (SP/DIF, up to 24.576 MHz), or uncompressed High Definition video (HDTV, up to 750 MHz), or cable TV/broadband (CATV, up to 1 GHz).

SOLID CONDUCTORS:

VDM-1’s centre conductor is solid. Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in a conventional cable is the greatest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty, harsh sound. Solid conductors are fundamental toward achieving VDM-1's very clean sound.

SILVER-PLATED COPPER (SPC):

Silver-Plated Copper (SPC) always provides superior performance for video and digital audio. Normal 1.25% silver-plate greatly improves high frequency performance for a fraction of the cost of solid silver. VDM-1's 2.5% silver conductor is much closer to all silver, still for a fraction of the cost.

INSULATION:

Nitrogen-Injected Hard Cell Foam foam reduces distortion caused by the insulating material. The combination foil and silver-plated braid shield provides 100% protection coverage and lower distortion.

TERMINATIONS:

Precision gold plated plugs are carefully attached with the very best solder. Through choice of flux and metallurgy, AQ solder has been optimized to make a low distortion connection. All solder, including "silver solder," is a poor conductor. The difference you hear between solders is a result of connection quality. AQ Solder does not have a high silver content because the more silver there is in solder, the more difficult it is to make a good connection.
