Parasound Halo P5 Two Channel Preamplifier (with DAC)

A relative new comer to the throw from Parasound is the P5 pre-amplifier.

In it's relatively recent time here it has delighted critics and owners alike with it's great range of features, performance and adaptability. So why all the buzz about this new stereo preamp?

Because it’s a quantum leap in standard features, sound quality and price in a preamp that is sure to surpass your expectations. It’s the perfect product if you want a great two channel music system that integrates with your existing home theatre - without sacrificing sub-woofer functionality.

The P5 ensures that you can bridge the analogue and digital divide in these ever changing and mercurial multi-format days. On the digital platform - new technologies have changed the ways audiophiles connect to and enjoy their music. So, that's why Parasound included a high quality DAC in the P 5 to widen your software playback options. The P5 features a Burr-Brown PCM1798 DAC with USB, optical and coax inputs. The coax and optical accept all sampling rates up to 192 kHz, 24-bit, whilst the USB input accepts up to 96 kHz, 24-bit.

On the analogue stage, turntables are enjoying a resurgence, and again Parasound responded by including a genuinely great and adaptable phono stage to accommodate MM & MC cartridges with a choice of load impedances (phono input for MM & MC cartridges with 100 Ohm or 47k Ohm load setting).

The connectivity is in abundance with a plethora of analogue balanced and unbalanced inputs for a myriad of sources, these are mirrored with the P5 output accordingly meaning it can suited to a host of Parasound amplifiers for the best performance - or other good quality pairings also. The beautiful front panel hosts a dedicated 3.5mm auxiliary input, along with treble and bass controls to suit your system requirements - and even is paired off with a dedicated headphone connection as well.

Additionally, the P 5 has a sub-woofer channel with 2 output jacks for dynamic 2.1 listening and seamless integration with your home theatre surround sound system. The addition of a balanced XLR sub-woofer output and variable low frequency and high frequency crossovers makes the Halo P 5 an amazing bargain.

So the question is; when you know it has the distinction of Parasound quality and reliability, with all these great features - would you buy an ordinary preamp when you can own the Swiss Army Knife of pre-amps?

The Parasound Halo P5 is available in black and silver finishes - please specify on order.
