Brahms: Complete Edition Music CD Box Set (94860)

The only complete Brahms Edition in the market!

The reissue of the successful 2008 Brahms Edition of Brilliant Classics. Little has changed in this new set as compared to the former, and we meet old friends again: Jaap van Zweden (a quickly rising star and chief conductor of Dallas SO) in passionate performances of the symphonies, (other conductors are Wolfgang Sawallish, Neeme Järvi, Rudolf Kempe), a superb line up of ensembles for the chamber music (Tokyo Quartet, Nash Ensemble, Brandis Quartet, Israel Piano Trio, Isabelle Faust, Karl Leister), excellent pianists tackle the piano music: Wolfram Schmitt‐Leonardy, Hakon Austbö (reference recording of the Klavierstücke), the highly esteemed Chamber Choir of Europe in the choral music (containing many hidden treasures), and a fine selection of young singers in the complete songs and duets (Lenneke Ruiten, Robert Nagy, Christian Elsner).

Newcomers are Yehudi Menuhin in the violin concerto, Daniel Barenboim in the first piano concerto, Cecile Ousset in the second piano concerto, Kristóf Baráti & Klára Würtz in the violin sonatas and Alfred Brendel & Walter Klien in the Hungarian Dances.

Superb bargain, incredible value for money, and a treasure trove of the famous and lesser known masterworks of Brahms, the great Romantic.
