Acoustic Energy Reference Speaker Stands

Acoustic Energy's first own-design loudspeaker stand in fifteen years, the Reference Stand has been a long time in the making.

Rather than just an aesthetic match to the Reference Series loudspeakers, the Reference Stand is a true performance product in its own right. Most stands fall into one of two camps - stiff and light, giving a speaker life and "bounce" while sometimes losing out a little in outright bass weight - or mass-heavy, giving solid and powerful bass while sometimes robbing a speaker of some life in the higher frequencies.

The Reference Stand is different, and better. It offers the best of both worlds - relatively mass-light to ensure speakers retain an upbeat and lively nature, but incorporating the MDF/Rubber constrained laminate layer technology of the Reference loudspeakers in its construction. This ensures minimal vibration transmission much like a mass-heavy design - and with a bass performance to match. Included with the stand are our new isolating speaker support pads, offering a perfect performance coupling between speaker and top-plate without need for cabinet-damaging spikes.

I don't really like speaker stands

Like I said, but then I also don't like big floorstanding speakers either. It is even stranger that we sometimes don't mind a certain small speaker, particularly if the sound is everything you could wish for in a small space. If you have such a speaker, then the Accoustic Energy Reference stand is a very good choice. I chose one in a black finish to compliment white speakers, and I must say that the overall look is very fine. The construction and finish is to a very high standard indeed, and I imagine that the materials and the design are what is needed to preserve everything that your speaker can deliver. The sound from the speakers now is now elevated even more from what was already very good. My previous stands were of the metal kind and were mass loaded. This stand seems to give rise to a different sonic result, and it is one I like very much. I therefore think that this stand is worth the asking price in a mid to high end system. The service and advice from Analogue Seduction was first rate.
